The 4th of July parade was quite long and, towards the end, a little dull. Firetrucks are fun and all but you can only see so many of them and listen to their loud loud noises for so long. There was much candy to be collected and almost hit by Shriners for. I really did almost get hit by a Shriner. Well, not my whole self so much as just my feet. I wasn't running in the road for candy, just resting my feet on the curb whilst sitting and a speedy little Shriner came within an inch of them before my reflexes pulled them back. There was an industrious little boy a little ways ahead of us on the parade route. He realized that he could get more candy if he followed those throwing it down the street a bit. However, when he got in front of our little'uns Sarrah took one look at him and yelled, "No, no, no, you put that down! That candy was in front of MY kids! That's THEIR candy!" and after that he quickly abandoned his ploy. Kennedy brought her pumpkin to collect candy in. It's interesting to me that she doesn't see pumpkins as a Halloween thing so much as a general candy thing. She's a clever one. My stupid old person brain might not have thought of using the pumpkin even though it's an ideal candy receptacle. Kids are marvelous because their little thought processes haven't been tainted by all the stupid rules & guidelines of society yet. They're living outside the box every day. I don't much more to say than that. I just wanted to blog to put this picture up.
